Leah, I am doing the lower body iron select program and am really enjoying it. I would love to - after I finish lower body select - to work on pull -ups. which of your workouts should I focus on besides the pull up series? What is the best way to be able to do a pull up without band assistance? thank you so much for your fun and innovative workouts.
So happy to hear you are enjoying it! I incorporate pull ups every week into my workouts at least one time for my personal goals- if I don't, I"m back to square one not being able to do one at all. I made the pull up bar series workout without the use of a band. If you are new to do hanging pulls or pull ups, I recommend not doing the entire pull up series if you are tagging it onto other workouts. But in that workout I show how to do negatives which is a great place to start. First try to do one pull up in neutral position and allow your body to struggle to get to the position. It's ok if you can't make it close to the bar, but the movement is at least attempted. Then, you can start negatives which will help you to do pull ups or more pull ups. My pull up bar series recommends 3 sets of 6-8, but if that's too much just go for 3-4 sets of 3 with strong focus on the eccentric/lowering phase with control for a couple of weeks. You can add on hanging scapular pulls to upper body days or after you perform negatives too. Perform 2x a week.
Thank you!@
